    • The Presidential Security Service established (Dec.17)
      - The Presidential Security Service Act enacted and publicly announced

    • The case of armed communist guerillas’ attempted attack on the CheongWaDae (The January 21 case)
    • 1971
    • The case of attempted bombing of CheongWaDae (suspects arrested by the Busan branch of the Korean Central Intelligence Agency)

    • 1974
    • The case of the attempted bombing of CheongWaDae (Two Korean residents in Japan arrested)
    • The case of the attempted assassination of President Park Chung-hee (The case of shooting of the First Lady, Yuk Young-soo)
      - The Security Safety Action Committee for the Presidential Security Service established (Sep. 11)

    • The death by assassination of President Park Chung-hee (Oct. 26)

    • 1981
    • The Presidential Security Service Act amended (The first amendment)
      - Added “Guard for a final Presidential-elect and his/her family members” and
      - "Guard for former Presidents, their spouses and children”to the duties of the Act
    • 1983
    • Blasting Aungsan National Cemetery in Myanmar
    • 1987
    • Performed security services for the president-elect (former President Roh Tae-woo)

  • The Sixth Republic
    • 1988
    • Security service for the predecessor President provided (For ex-president Chun Doo-hwan)
    • Guidelines prepared to strengthen a cooperative system for duties related to
      the Presidential security services
    • 1990
    • The new Presidential residence constructed (Oct. 25)
    • 1991
    • The main office of CheongWaDae constructed (Sep. 4), The security service system changed)

  • The Civilian Government
    • 1993
    • Security service system changed, due to opening to the public the front road of CheongWaDae and the Mt. Inwang trail
    • Security -related facilities opened to the public and the Mugunghwa Dongsan (Park)
    • 1995
    • Security protection for former President Chun Doo-hwan ended (Transferred to the National Police Agency)

  • The Government of the People
    • 1999
    • The “Comprehensive Security Training Center” established to strengthen
      education and training of employees of the Service
    • 2000
    • The Presidential Security Service Act amended, strengthening political neutrality and occupational stability of the security guards (The second amendment)
      - Status of guards changed from the public official in special services to the public officials in specific services
    • Security duties performed for visitation to Pyeongyang for the South-North Summit
    • The security services performed for the 3rd Asian and European Summit (ASEM)

  • The Roh Mu-hyeon Administration
    • 2003
    • The Cheongnamdae--return of the presidential recreational facility; missions for exclusive guard troops released.
    • 2004
    • Performed security services for vicarious execution of presidential authorities resulting from the presidential impeachment.
    • 2005
    • Performed guard and security duties at the APEC summit in Busan
    • The Presidential Security Service Act amended (the third amendment)
      - Security areas designated, new bases for security safe activities established.

  • The Lee Myung-bak Administration
    • 2008
    • Converted into the Presidential Office Security Division
      -"The Presidential Security Service Act” amended →
      Amended into the “Act on Security of President, etc.”
    • 2009
    • Performed security duties at the Korean-ASEAN special summit
    • 2010
    • The “Act on Security of the President, etc.” amended (the fourth amendment)
      - The period extended for providing former presidents (10 years) and their spouses (5 years)
    • Held the 10th conference of the APPS (Association of Personal Protection Service) in Seoul.
    • Performed security services for the G-20 Summit
    • 2012
    • The “Act on Security of President, etc.” amended (the sixth amendment)
      - Legislated the president’s immediate institution for security and safe control at multilateral summits
      - The retirement age extension system introduced for former presidents and security government officials for professional or special fields.
    • Performed security services at the 2012 Seoul Nuclear Security Summit

  • The Park Geun-hye Administration
    • 2013
    • Pursuant to the government’s organizational reforms, the President Office’s immediate Security Division separated independently into the Presidential Security Service.
    • The Chief Officer of the Presidential Security Service promoted in status up to the ministerial level
    • The “Act on Security of President, etc.” amended (the seventh amendment)
      - The retirement age for the Security Service’s government officials extended (from 55 years to 58 years)
      - The period for providing former presidents and their spouses extended (from 10 years to 15 years)
    • 2014
    • Performed security duties at the Korean-ASEAN special summit
